The slate of projects selected to receive money from the 2010 Neotropical Migratory Bird Conservation Act grant program included many western partners this year (http://www.fws.gov/birdhabitat/Grants/NMBCA/2010.shtm#US).  The amount available in 2010 was $5M.  Partners in OR/WA, MT, CO, and AK pulled in a little over $772,000 in grant money, which will be matched with $2.38M for four projects.  In addition, one international project involving Great Plains states and Canada, and Colorado and Mexico, pulled in $294,600, involving $884,400 in match.  Six projects in Mexico will benefit our western birds, amounting to an additional $1.13 M in grants, and involving $5.164 M in match contributions.  Total?  $10.6 M for western bird conservation.  Good job!
